The region has plenty of cultural and natural sites to visit : Metz and the Centre Pompidou () , Nancy and art nouveau, Pont-à-Mousson and its papier maché museum (), Verdun and its WW1 sites, La Madine's lake (Meuse) or Pierre-Percée (Vosges)
I can suggest you the regional "brocante" if you like to go antiquing, as I do.
